Time Machine

By Maged Elaraby

I go to various time realms,

realities and universes with my time machine,

I sit on Saturn and stretch my legs to the sun.

I can see stars dying and stars being born.

I watch the beauty of Saturn's rings like a doorbell or a married man.

The pink and purple colors of space illuminated by white droplets like pearls dipped in milk are as beautiful as...

I can't find a vibrant brass enough simile other than my woman.

I'm suddenly in the year 3347 with Al-Mutanabbi on an artificial horse carriage bowling.

My imagination takes me above and beyond,

My ballpoint time machine runs out of ink,

So, I put it down on the paper and go to bed

Being a third-year psychology student has had an influence on his writing, for he likes to tackle issues such as mental illnesses in his poetry in a way that would make people both understand them if they don't and relate to them if they have them. However, his writing isn't necessarily exclusive to such topics. Although this is his first time being published, he was able to grow a significant audience of over 4000 followers on his Instagram platform @Mental_Dystopia, which you can check out if you'd like to see more of his work.
