Down the lengths of the Bosphorus, runs two currents: one on the surface and the the other deep below. They run in opposite directions. And here in the strait which divides the city into two lies the perfect metaphor for the city.  For its residents too push and pull each other in different directions, seemingly contradictorily but vital for the other’s survival.

In its first print anthology, the Bosphorus Review of Books, Turkey’s biggest English-language literature magazine tries to capture a little of this city and country through the eyes of its writers, poets and critics with its original English pieces also presented in Turkish translation.
