Thoughts and Empty Reflections

The elderly lady 

is just a hazy mist

that takes flight

in memories, and

can no longer

taste youthful

hours upon her

tongue.

She lives in a 

time that

is fading,

her essence

a mere sliver 

of a moonbeam,

an image echoing 

in the past.

She sits wearily in

the grayness of 

her aging hours

waiting for the 

night to empty 

her thoughts into

empty reflections.

James G. Piatt, a poet and novelist, is a twice Best of The Net nominee and four-time Pushcart nominee. He has had five poetry books, The Silent Pond, (2012), Ancient Rhythms, (2014), LIGHT, (2016), Solace Between the Lines, (2019), and Serenity, (2022), over 1775 poems, five novels, and thirty-five short fiction pieces published worldwide.
