Bloom After Dawn
Carmen Veraliosa
My existence becomes a tarnished reflection in the hands of damned crowd
“choke me with sand, with mud
every trace of vulgarity manages to violate my mind”
A life, a joy
i’m running, i’m running like a fericous animal
into the night.
I forget where I belong yet,
screaming—
mingling with soil, damp.
i’m here, into the night,
by the night
ripping out my skin
my flesh — to embrace the new.
I am nothing
but all-encompassing
I am nothing
but an expanding satellite
I know how it is like to be a man
I know how it is like to be a woman
I know the treasures of a sailor
that awakes me,
— the keeper of my nightmares
crushes me,
authorizes me
(yelling)
“bow down!”
i am a senseless planet floating in hell
where all hearts are bloating by dirt.
