Journey to Aurora

By Heather Sager

Like the mainsail

of a boat,

a huge flight wing,

we glide through life.

The sky, gently blue,

tinged sweetly

orange.

Never mind

the angry,

lashing sea.

There might be another ship,

rigging of splendid magnitude,

but we are happy

with what we have.

So lovely,

moving together

across the water.

Where is our destination?

I know only of

our wind-blown vessels,

our frail bodies,

the ocean

that can eat us,

and the aurora of the horizon
