Images & Aromas

By James

During the balmy mist of the morning hours,

I heard a faint voice speaking of fragrant flowers,

yellow roses, Peony, Jasmine and Wisteria too,

opening up forgotten colors of egg-yellow and

Lazuli Bunting-Blue. I saw a brick walk leading to a

small roundhouse, a hay shed, horse stall, and an

old farmhouse where precious memories were

stored in blue boxes, picture albums, and an old

sideboard. My melancholy vanished as a tiny wren

sang a sweet song, which soothed my mind of all

that was wrong. I heard its language consisting of

the pulses of the sweet bouquet of jasmine and

honeysuckle wafting in the doorway, causing long

past memories to be transformed into new images,

and my heart was warmed.
