Get Well Soon Bartin

By Laila Kalan

As we buy the final product

We don't really realize

Where it comes from or how it is made;

Not deemed important.

The gold ring we wear

Carries a heavy burden.

It wears the blood, sweat and tears of miners;

too soon forgotten.

As you light up the coal

For a fun evening barbecue

The screams of the miners burn in there too;

too soon muted.

As smoke emanates from the barbecued meat,

So do the souls from a mine explosion;

Take a second to say a prayer.

Get well soon Bartin

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
